Wastewater flows into the Complete Plant’s screening basket with screened material removed and spray washed, returning organics to the waste flow. The screened material is then transported up the unit’s central screw conveyor to storage containers. During transport, screened material is compacted and dewatered to a solids content up to 40 percent.
The influent not processed by the screen passes directly into a grit removal chamber where grit settles on the floor and a transport screw moves the settled grit to a lateral slump, while keeping organics in suspension. Grit is dewatered before it is discharged into storage containers.
For treatment plants with wide variations in flow, the grit chamber can be equipped with aeration to help control circulation in the unit. This keeps organics in suspension and allows grit to settle at the tank floor regardless of any variation in flow capacity. To improve the overall performance of the Complete Plant – and to prevent clogging – the grit chamber can also be equipped with an optional grease trap, removing grease manually or with a motorized skimmer.
